Pre-Civil War Model 1833 Ames Cutler Dragoon Sword Saber

Description

Pre-Civil War Model 1833 N.P. Ames Cutler Dragoon Saber. The ricasso has a "W.S." (William Smith) inspection stamp, the same mark is also on the quillon. The brass knuckle guard has has one branch cut off at some point and what remains is a bit misshapen. The grip is tight and the guard is slightly loose. The grip is down to the wood, there is one small piece of the leather wrap under the only piece of wire wrap near the pommel. The pipe backed blade has the very faint remnants of "United States" on it, some sharpening marks, there are age spots with some pitting and light surface rust throughout. The leather washer is missing. No scabbard. Length of the blade is 34" (1 1/8" wide and 3/8" thick) and the sword overall is 39 3/8".
